Autumn 2020 newsletter

Welcome to the Autumn 2020 edition of our newsletter.

Welcome Back!

It's lovely to see everyone back at nursery! Our children are settling back into nursery routines, making new friends and memories to last a life time. Our team are working hard to keep our children and staff as safe as possible by following government guidlines and rigorous routines.

What we have been up to

Over the last couple of weeks we have enjoyed lots of activities themed around all about me. We have shared our family photo books with our friends, talking about who is special to us. The children have especially enjoyed our feelings board and hand print families. We have welcomed lots of new children into our setting so far this term.

Summer Holidays

We have had a fabulous fun packed summer holidays, full of fun and laughter. Some of the activities we have enjoyed include Dinosaur fun week - including prints, measuring dino feet and dino egg hunts in the tuff tray. Nature week - including bug hunts in the garden we made our own binoculars to help us spot the bugs, nature trays and sensory boxes. Under the sea week - we explored under the sea tuff trays, lot's of messy fun and stories. plus much more.

Baby news!

Congratulations to Clare and her lovely family on the birth of baby Charlotte. We hope to meet Charlotte soon for cuddles.

Victory in Japan

We love to attend and take part in services within our local community. A couple of weeks ago a service was held at the White Swan Centre for Victory in Japan, what a lovely service it was.

Coronavirus update

We would like to ask for your support and insist that children that are displaying symptoms of Covid 19 are not brought into nursery. If your child is displaying any of the sypmtoms they must remain at home and access the coronavirus test, if your child has a temperature, continuous cough or is experiencing a change in or loss of taste or smell they must stay at home. If you are concerned about the health of your child please contact 111 for advice and keep us informed.

Our love of stories

Our children love nothing better than to cosy up and share a story. We like to visit the library, choose our own books and can often be found in small groups re telling a story to each other. Following childrens interests we often set up activities and areas that follow our love of books, such as in this photo 'The Tiger who came to tea'

Happy birthday to us

This year we are celebrating our 5th Birthday at Little Cygnets, due to the current restrictions sadly we will not be able to have the big birthday party we were planning! Instead we will be celebrating for a whole week so that everyone can be involved. Our week of fun will commence on Monday 21st September 2020, we have a fun packed week planned including a special visitor, games, music session, yummy cake and so much more. Feel free to send your children in dressed up if they would like.

In nursery we use Makaton to support spoken language, this is particularly useful for non-verbal children and helps support their communication. Mr Tumble is really useful if anyone would like to learn a few signs. In nursery we regularly use the signs for please, thank you, more, sit down and milk. Maybe you would like to learn more at home to by googling Mr Tumble you will find all his songs online.
